RE-DUN DENIM & THE CREATIVE DIARIES
So I'm going to tell you a story. It goes like this:
Once upon a time, Mom jeans ruled the world. They were tapered, they were weathered, and they were really, really comfortable. But as time (and the unforgiving world of fashion) moved on, the Mom jean became less and less desirable.
Until RE/DUN. To be fair, RE/DUN is much more than the savior for all of those forgotten Levis in the back of your closet (or your Mom's closet), or in the depths of your neighborhood Goodwill. This company has found a way to preserve the great denims of the world, and re-make them to fit us modern day lady and like, type women. Vintage character with modern fit. They are "RE/DUN, and they are proud to make jeans as unique as you are. " Like, what? Swoon.
They reached out to me a few weeks ago and asked me if I would be interested in taking a few snaps of one of my favorite lay-days in their jeans. Well, friends, this was a really great thing, because today I have Chelsea Matthews, CEO and Founder of Matte Black on the Creative Diaries! (ps- Matte Black just got a little makeover, with logo design by yours truly! Insert air fives, pats on back, joyous skips across wide open spaces, maybe even some celebratory lip synching...)
I LOVE MORNINGS. COULD YOU GIVE A LITTLE INSIGHT INTO YOUR MORNING ROUTINE? ARE YOU A COFFEE OR TEA LADY? EGGS OR PASTRIES? WHAT GETS YOU MOST READY FOR THE DAY?
I’m a total coffee lady. Like, it excites me to think about an espresso or cup of java right when I open my eyes in the a/m. That and a cup of water and lemon (often hot). Otherwise, I typically avoid my phone for the first 45 minutes while I get up, move around and get out of the house for a morning workout.
YOU’RE A SOCIAL MEDIA GENIUS. HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN IT, AND WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE PLUNGE INTO STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?
Well, BLUSH, thank you! Before social media was relevant for brands, I was in offline marketing (events, guerrilla campaigns, etc) and so when the I began to watch how social media was impacting brands and creating this online community for people, I was hooked.
Starting my own business was somehow always in the cards. Both my parents had their own companies, and so I had this insane amount of insight growing up, whether I realized it or not. And I can always call my mom with business questions (and cooking questions, and female issue questions, and and and).
YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES TO GET READY- WHAT WOULD BE YOUR GO TO OUTFIT?
Jeans or black leather pants. T-shirt. Leather jacket or blazer. Pumps. Red lipstick. WE OUT.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THESE JEANS?
They make my rear view look amazing! But really, they’ve got that perfect vintage wash and tear, but with a super sexy cut.
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL MOST FEMININE? PERFUME, BRUNCH, A HUG AND KISS FROM YOUR MAN, A WORKOUT ALONE- ANYTHING! THE SKY IS THE LIMIT WITH WHAT MAKES YOU CELEBRATE BEING A LADY.
Lipstick, thick black mascara and a good, tall pump. And always a good perfume. I like to smell myself and think in my head, “I smell bomb”.
LASTLY, WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE RECIPES TO WHIP UP IN A QUICK MINUTE?
A quinoa bowl! Quinoa: check. Avocado: check. Arugula: check. Any other veggie / protein / dip you have in the fridge: done!
